I purchased dry rocks from a local lfs last April. Had it treated with vinegar for a week then exposed it to direct sunlight for the next 3 mos to dry up. Afterwhich I placed it in a sealed plastic bag and kept it for future use.

My tank is cycling and is entering the 12th week and last week, I added one of the dry rocks ( after washing it again and let it dry for another week under the sun) in the sump. Made a 10% water change and check the water parameters. All were okay but surprisingly my nitrates was hovering around >20<40 ppm. Can the dry rock be the culprit? Nothing in the tank was changed nor added except that rock in the sump. The tank is host to a pair or nassauris and 8 turbo astrea snails.

Need your help. Thanks.
