Adding Dry Rock to an Already Cycled Tank

Hello All,

My tank just finished it’s cycle and I used live sand and a lot of live rock to start. The live rock is not ocean rock but populated artificially and has a nice purple shade like the rock in the photo here. I have spent a lot of money on the live rock I have added so far (7.99 per pound) but still need to add some more rock to build up my aquascape. I was wondering if I could add pieces like this without curing now that my tank is cycled.

You can add it, better to get it in there sooner than later. Dry rock, even purple dry rock is an ideal place for algae to populate until corraline eventually out competes it. So don’t be surprised if that new rock has a sheen of algae that the more established rock doesn’t have. Eventually it will catch up.
