Hi. I got a bucket of live sand with water from local reefer and i test water it got no nitrate but has phosphate. How can i safely add it to my tank. His sand still has a lot of critter most of them bristtle worm and snail and pods.

Seen some things on buying 1.5" pvc and a funnel. Dumping the sand down the pvc to try and limit the clouding.

Yup, thats how some do it. It clouds up still, but kinda helps.

I've just used a large cup and lowered it to the sandbed and poured it out. I've never had the tank get cloudy using this method.

What about the the water inside the bucket i dont want to add extra phosphate in my tank.

Just a thought but stir and water change the bucket for a couple days.
