I'm upgrading tanks, and have a chance to add a pair of Pink Margin Fairy wrasse to the tank first before I add the rest of my wrasses (and the rest of my fish). Am I asking for trouble? I currently have:

Male orange back (the most assertive of the group)
Male pintail
Male Naoko
Female Katherine's

Perfect, thank you. I had read most of the other articles about wrasse but hadn’t seen this one.
I’ll shoot for just one then. Thanks!

Of course, I'll always advocate for just a single - no pairs. :)

Also, if you're going to have any issues, it would be the naoko not taking kindly to a new addition.

Thats what I thought as well. I added the Naoko, Katherine’s, and Orange back all at the same time and in the beginning the Naoko was the least friendly. Now however I think it’s at the bottom of the pecking order. Even the female Katherine’s seems to be more dominant.

Do you think it’s a good idea to add the new wrasse to the tank first or should I go with the acclimation box?

Always use the box - cheap insurance to test things out.
