I am hopefully going to be buying my first fish today if my lfs has a yellow watchman goby in stock. I have a couple good ones I can go to so hopefully someone will have one. I also plan to get a pistol shrimp so they can hopefully be buddies. I love symbiotic relationships. I have my drip acclimation kit and 100% plan on using that. But I was wondering if you guys have any other tips and tricks. Or any thing you guys wish you knew the first time you added a fish? My tank has been cycled for 6 weeks.

cursory YWG tank check (also nice akita):

30 gallons or more

2-3inchs sand bed or more

tank fully, 100% cycled

if added alongside a shrimp, the shrimp is a tiger pistol shrimp

no toxic dinos

all rocks in tank are under and not on top of sandbed

method to QT the fish, dealing with illness can be really hard for new reefers

Frozen food

maybe a lid

Nice eyes on my Akita most people think she is a husky lol. I appreciate the tank check I can check all the boxes except the food but I will pick that up when I go to the store. Would you do frozen mysis it seems like that’s everyone in marine tanks go to.

I've got an akita too! she's a longhair though.

Mysis good for getting picky fish to eat at first but not very nutritious. Personally, I like LRS reef frenzy, you should also ask the store what they feed, and ask them to feed the fish so that you can see if it is eating or not.

Long coats are amazing we really wanted one but got impatient but couldn’t be happier with our girl. Good call on having them feed I forgot about that one
