I ordered 3 fish from LA and 2 were delivered 2 weeks back. I have them in my QT and plan to keep them there for 76 days. Now the 3rd fish is being delivered tomorrow. When I add it to my QT does the 76 day clock reset?

I am pretty new myself just set up a QT tank over the weekend. In the research I have done the answer was yes because you don’t know if the new fish is sick so to be safe if you are not medicating you would want to wait the 76 days.

Thanks appreciate it

Yes, the "clock" does reset...but why are you planning to quarantine for 76 days? The 76 (or really, 72) -day timeline is the maximal suggested fallow period for display tanks in which ich has been detected -- after the last fish has been removed.

I'm going to assume that this is really an observation tank, but I hope it's not for prophylactic treatment. It may be quite dangerous for your fish if you attempt to treat them with medications and/or hyposalinity for 72 (or 76) days. Many reefers dose copper for 14 or 30 days; many other medications indicate shorter treatment periods. Be sure to read the many threads on observation and prophylactic treatment on this site -- and good luck!

And if this is just observation, with no treatment, no finite period of time will make the fish "safe". Anything that you introduce into the QT tank is just going to reproduce and kill your fish if it's not treated.

76 days is a fallow (fishless period) not a QT period. There is no period to say when fish are safe if using observation. You just do what you are comfortable with.

Its 76days for me as my DT had ich so is now fallow. So fish have to be in QT till then. Sigh!
