My first ever fish was a Midas Blenny that was doing great. I then added a bonded pair of Premium Picasso's. My dad said the female chased the Blenny around but I never saw it.

To make a long story short, within a few days the perfectly healthy Blenny died. And "my" plan to add fish is a little skewed. Not sure what to do.

I understand that the clowns are semi aggressive and I don't want them to get too territorial over my little 38g tank (30g in display). I wanted to add fish that are typically classed as peaceful. Will the clowns terrorize them? Or should I change the plan to fish that are likewise semi-aggressive?

I'd really like to get another Midas Blenny but I'm worried about it now.

I think my first pair of clowns murdered my skunk cleaner shrimp...my current pair hasn't bothered anyone, though.

I think I'm just going to get all the fish I wanted at the same time and add them all at once. Free for all winner takes all and hope for the best.

Lol, I hope that was a joke.
We all know Darwinism is best left outside the aquarium. Though no matter how hard you try, something is always competing with something. Does anyone out there think it's wrong to let bacteria fight?

Oh it was a joke. I'm just going to have to be careful I think. My goal is to add all 'peaceful' classed fish ... slowly...

I'll keep you all updated.

I updated in my tank thread. I quickly replaced the dead Blenny with another Midas Blenny that was just about half the size of the other Blenny. The dead one was about 3.5 inches. The new one is just a baby. He's only about 1.5 inches. I'm hoping that any aggression from the clowns was based on the blends size and that he was in the tank for quite a while before I added the clowns.

About 4 days later I added a Helfrichi Firefish. He's awesome in mannerism. He just kind of glides in place and flicks his fin. So very pretty too. I watched the clowns very closely but there was no aggression at all between any of the 4 fish. They just swam all over each other with no probs at all. I woke myself up in the night to go check on them and found the craziest thing (at least I thought so). The clowns and the fire fish all sleeping piled up on top of each other in the same sand 'hole' that the clowns carved out. Too funny. I think they are fast friends.

I think the next addition will be some kind of assessor or maybe a dotty back of some kind. I'll add a wrasse last.

I'll get on board with that but I don't think that was the problem. All seems good at the moment. Peace and harmony.
