Hey. I'm fairly new to reefing. I just added my second pair of fish. Two zebra bar gobies. Do you guys keep your lights off when adding new fish to the tank?

I do not. Have never had it cause an issue. Most fish go straight to a hidey-hole in the bottom when I let them into the display.

Have heard some recommend this if you anticipate an aggressive tank-mate and don’t want them to see the new fish come in, but I think an acclimation box is better in that case

I also dont, the only time i alter my light schedule are for fish like Leopard wrasses and those on a completely different light schedule as they are wild caught or light sensitive corals, which with my lights is hard to bleach them LOL.
Otherwise would it help that fish if you turns the lights down or off, sure, but it might stress your other fish so IMO isn't worth it unless needed to for reasons stated above.
