Adding fish

Hello y’all I still NEEDA test and measure my water parameters. Although as of right now I have been running my 30gallon tank for 16 days with 2 chromis in the tank. I have a small CUC and was wondering if over 2 weeks was enough and if it could soon be time to add 1-2 more fish. Any thoughts?

How was the tank set up? Live rock/dry rock? Live sand/dry sand? Bottled bacteria?
Without parameters such as ammonia, nitrate hard to give an intelligent answer.
Was the tank cycled before the chromis or are you just 16 days into a new tank.
Ammonia should definitely be 0 before adding any more fish.

There's a lot of ways to start a tank, but the general consensus would be that it's not ready yet. If you want a truly cycled and "safe" tank it's probably a few weeks early still.

If your parameter check comes up with detectable nitrates but no detectable nitrites your tank is probably cycled.

Hello I had live sand 40 lbs and I have dry rock half and live rock half, both adding up to 16 lbs. then I added start smart compete bacteria and now I am adding fritz bacteria every other day.

Hey man following up I appreciate the help! I went and got the water tested. Ammonia was reading at 0 ppm. While nitrrite was reading at .25ppm any thoughts? I know that ammonia is low this is good sign

So you added 40lbs of sand? Thats a lot.

And you added half dry and half live rock?

Then you added “start smart compete bacteria” and Fritz (what kind?) every day? Why?

Did you add the fish day one? No ammonia I assume?

The presence of nitrite says your cycle isn’t completely done. Ammonia and nitrites at 0 with nitrates showing is cycled. I would hold off a little longer.

I agree with @HankstankXXXL750 if you are still showing nitrites in your system you should certainty hold off because your cycle isnt complete. You should invest in good quality test kits. I like Hanna Checkers and salifert test kits. At a minimum you should have ammonia nitrite and nitrate PH and a refractometer. You should wait at least a few more weeks and consider quarantining new additions.
