Adding frag tank to DT

Am going to plumb a 34 gal frag tank into the sump of my DT.

The frag tank is going to be bare bottom with egg crate. Is that going to cause any changes? A mini cycle?

The DT is almost a year old, 80 gal display, 29gal fuge and 15gal in the sump.

I don't think its going to cause a mini cycle unless you're adding live rock direct from the ocean (dieoff) or more fish. Essentially unless you add more of an ammonia source you should be fine. Once you connect everything it will just be like adding more freshly mixed saltwater to the existing system. The beneficial bacteria from the existing DT and sump will populate the new frag tank pretty quickly.

Shouldn't cause a cycle. Yet I've seen eggcrate get some algae growth for few weeks most probably because of a little phosphate leaching
