My guess is you're going to have a real hard time adjusting both pumps to the rate that will keep the level the same. Especially, since the rates of the pumps will change over time - like when they need to be cleaned. IMO, you'll need to have an overflow on the frag tank.

Maybe raise the FT up above the sump and utilize a gravity fed overflow back to the sump from the FT that way your only dialing in what comes into the frag tank and matching it with what the overflow can deal with.?.

Yall both make sense,I knew i shouldnt of tried this homemade crap...gotta get a real frag tank with built in overflow...I can see that way the overflow is always the same flow and just having to meet it ..

Thanks for the input helped me a bunch ..DON'T DO A DIY..

Some of us poor people don't have a choice.

Well you got that right ,i could drill and put in a overflow but by the time i do that i could find a tank for 100-200 bucks, its just the light gonna cost also, should just not do a frag tank and keep throwing it into the sump

+1, you can always use a siphon overflow to help solve this issue until you can drill the tank or buy a new one.

I would try to put the tank up at display tank level. If that doesn't work, Deep Blue makes inexpensive frag tanks with overflows. I'm using one for my nano display.

FWIW you don't need and overflow. Just drill it and add a bulkhead with a bulkhead screen. :)
