I was just wondering if any of you guys plumbed a frag tank to your existing system? My corals are outgrowing my tank and I need to start fragging as the tank is almost 5 years old. When setting up would this be like a huge water change? The frag tank is going to be 1/3 total water volume of the system. I've heard pros and cons but I really can't think of any cons. I just don't want to buy a separate sump, calcium reactor, skimmer etc. If any of you have done this I would love to know the pros and cons you've encountered...

I would imagine you're basically doing a large water change, without removing the existing tank water. That is a lot of water volume though, do you run your tank near to what your salt mixes at for Alk / Ca / Mg?

Yeah, I use fritz salt which runs around 8.2 alk 420 calcium. My DT is dialed in the same so when I do water changes the perimeters wouldn't change. I was using coral pro and perimeters were all over the place. Corals have literally doubled in size using fritz. I'm guessing because everything is stable?
