I want to add some live rock to my sump. The place that I get it from keeps the live rock in a big tank. Do you think it's safe to assume the live rock is already cycled and can be just placed in the sump?

You would probably be fine even if it they weren’t cycled. There had been times when I added a few pieces of dry rock to my tank with no bad consequences.

I personally will never trust live rock again, unless I'm positive there's no pests on it. I have 250 pounds of rock in my setup and about 5 pounds of that was live (just to seed the dry) and I still got aiptasia everywhere. I can see the interest with the diversity of life with live rock, but you never know what your putting into your tank. Just my 2 cents.

As long as you are not adding tons of rock that your already established LR can't handle. The mini cycle of the added rock should be barely noticeable even with testing.
Edit
I would add rock but dry/dead rock as mentioned above. With already LR you never know what you are introducing to your tank and become a huge mess. But same can be said when getting coral, adding coral without quarantine/dipping it can lead to huge issues as well.

Noooo. I don’t trust anyone in this hobby. I qt all live rock for 76 days in case of parasites. As a bonus, during the qt process, I found a few aptasia growths and one of the rocks stank like death so I removed it. Wouldn’t want that in my system.
