Wanted thoughts on adding live sand to increase my substrate in my 125 gallon and best way to do so. The sandbed is very thin in some areas so I wanted to raise everything to be close to 2inches. Ive seen different opinions on the matter but aside from the cloudy water for a day what reason is there to rinse live sand? Also read dont layer sand yet others say do? Current sandbed is maybe 1/2 inch and less in spots. No corals in this tank since its currently a FO til later this year and only inhabitants are a couple clowns and an urchin.

I would say you'll get a bunch of different answers here, but you have no coral so I can't see a reason why you would have problems.

Even if you did have corals I would still do it. But without corals, I'm interested to see if anyone will say not to do it.
