I currently have a 20g set up with a 10g sump with coral and everything going. Has been for well over a year now. I just got a 50g low boy frag tank and am deciding if I want to combine that tank with my current system via a separate pump from the sump to the frag tank and vise versa with a overflow. Would it be a good idea? I want to add the frag tank to grow some corals out, would making them one system be a bad thing? I just want to see if there are any negatives to this. I have a separate 10 g QT tank I use

Just make sure that your sump will be able to handle to additional water from the frag tank once you shut off your return pump.

As @flyline stated, adding the additional water will also make your water chemistry easier to manage.

^ this!
Also imo (again this is just me lol) i would NOT keep them on the same system, im a big fan of keeping systems seperate. if somthing happens to one system at least it hopefully wont happen to both lol, also a 10 gallon sump for 70 gallons is a bit riskey!

I agree with @Silent

1 big system
