Adding maroon clown?

Not in my experience. Although it might work for a short time, the maroon will eventually kill both of them unless they take him out while he's still small, especially in a tank that small.

I would say no, if they don't get him before he grows the maroon will then get too aggressive and kill the ocellaris. Either way in a 45 gallon tank I would predict you having some dead clowns at some point in the future even if it works at first.
I wouldn't risk it just look at some other fish instead or if you really want a maroon you will probably have to loose the ocellaris.
i think mixing different clownfish is possible but will definitely require a lot of effort on your part to make sure the pair don’t harass the new addition too much...Also might be a bit more challenging in a 45 gallon. Like others have stated, a pair clownfish will get extremely territorial and you will need enough room for the other fish to run away and hide when it needs to. I have a 90 gallon which has 3 black snowflakes and 2 lightening maroon. The bigger maroon will attack the other black snowflakes but only during feeding else they all just kind of mind their own business.

Ensure adequate hiding spots if not already available. Clowns love clay pots.
Royal Gramma, great colour, great price, very resilient,can hold his own, but generally a bit shy unless terroirty is encroached upon. Cave type of setting is best, but any place to “hold” will be fine.
Anthais, just one IMO, fast, out in front, colourful. Groups tend to always be checking and resetting the hierarchy. I would do a group in 1
Firefish, again, one is best, be these can be in groups.
fire shrimp, cleaner shrimp......all these guys work well together.
A BTA when water is rock solid stable, say 9 months ish or when you see coralline algae starting on the glass and hard surfaces, your free to go into the coral world....

Here’s my pair of black snowflakes and my lightening maroon pair in the same tank...
Wow.......that’s very cool.......can’t see that being frequent though.
The trick to stocking a tank is in finding fish that inhabit the various areas of the tank. A YWG (yellow watchman goby) is, at least IMO, always a great reef fish. It will find a spot it calls home and dig a burrow. Yoiu can count on always finding it near there, except at feeding time! Blennies are another great choice. They tend to find a spot as well, and will always be looking at you by the time you find them. Firefish (the Dartfishes in general) tend to be shy especially at first but will eventually start coming out more to hang out in the midwater area. They require a top of some sort or they will jump. A nice DIY mesh top works well for that while still allowing for excellent oxygenation of the water.
Those are just a few of your choices, all would be just fine in your size tank.
