I have an opportunity to pick-up a Melanurus, and have some compatibility and general acclimation questions before doing so.

Off the top of my head, I have a hippo tang, a scopas, a Lubbock's wrasse, four anthias, a starry blenny, a tailspot blenny, two sapphire damsels, a royal gramma, an orchid dottyback, two red headed gobies and a single neon goby, in a 150g display. Will the melanurus be incompatible with anything in particular?

I love wrasses in general and had hoped to aquire more, in particular a flame wrasse pair, and a leopard pair. Would there be issue introducing those with the melanurus later?

My sand bed is shallow and coarse, about 1/2", mixed reef flakes and puka shell. Will the melanurus require a dedicated sleeping area, perhaps a dish with a little more depth of sand to it?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

.5-1" of sand will suffice.

There shouldn't be any compatibility issues with your current stock.

Melanurus are usually fine with other wrasses, but on occasion can be bossy toward them. Utilizing a social acclimation box when introducing new fish will minimize this.

Mine gets along great with my fairy wrasse and other peaceful fish. He couldn't care less about any of them.

Melanurus devils??? Mine is a chill dude. Six line on the other had are tank terrorist!..hehe

Leopard super male and a female are doing great with 6 other fish including a Flasher wrasse.

Plan to use an acclimation box (first time) and may re-scape a little as well.
