So I have been trying to find a suitable moonlight setup to use with my ATI 24" 8 bulb t5. My tank is a 93 cube 30 x 30 and 24 tall. I really want my corals to have that look for a few hours morning and night, the look that you see at events like macna in the vendor displays if you know what I mean. I looked at the reefbrite strips but premium is telling me they are way overkill and to look at the mini mags. I am guessing I would need two of them one on the front and back? They just look small and I know nothing about them or how to mount them?

I have also been talking with rapid led and they are telling me one of the 12" kits they have would be enough but I don't see how with one strip of leds all the way on the front of my t5 would be enough to light all the way back 25-30" ? Thinking maybe I should go two of those? One on the front and one on the back?

What would you guys suggest I am running a hood so the look doesn't really matter just function. Might just blow my budget and buy the powermodule combo I have been talking about it forever but if I can find a good alternative and cheaper I am all about that! Thank you

The Reefbrites work out quite nicely for MANY people. I have seen so many build threads where reefers simple add a reefbrite in front and sometimes at the back of the ATI unit.

If you dont mind the DIY look (seeing as you are using a canopy) the DIY route will be cheapest. For your setup, a 12 LED kit without lens will be fine. You can have two C channels with 6 LED's on each C channel, at the front and back of your unit.

This is what I did to my ATI Sunpower: before ATI even made the LED/T5 Powermodule, I modified mine to have 4 tiny Moonlight LED's, and the more powerful Cree Royal Blue and Blue LED's:

Everything is internal, so once my light is facing down, it looks like a plain old ATI Sunpower. :D

I get that look you are after for an 30 minutes after T5's go off in the evening. :D

I saw your thread when i did some searches Sahin that is an awesome job! Wish i had the time and patience to do that. Thanks I think I will order a reefbrite and see how it looks if I need to get another I will after.

If you add the reefbrites you will never set up a tank without them again! I have a reefbrite xho setup on my 48" ATI and I love it! It's probably the best purchase I've made for my set up! The colors are amazing on my corals since adding it.

Good to hear that JP! So you have one strip on the front? Are you using an 8 or 6 bulb t5 and how deep is your tank front to back? Thanks!

To be honest, I dont think there is anything as good as the reefbrites for this purpose. The reason I say this is because there is no lens and they include a mirror reflector. This will provide the greatest spread of the light.
