I have a Fluval spec 5 it is nearly done cycling, and am now preparing to make a list of what I need to stock it. I was thinking when it's done cycling on adding 2 red legged hermit crabs, and possibly a tronchus snail. My question is, is this too much for such a small tank, will there be a shortage of algae for the 3, and on that note do I need to provide supplemental food for the hermits while tank is empty of fish? My live rocks have some algae growing on them, but not a huge amount, and my glass is clean

You could do whichever you like, me personally, I like to wait a few weeks(after the cycle) and let the tank develop so when I put em in, they won't starve

You can start with that. I might think down the line you might need to add more snails and hermit but for now it is fine. There will be enough algae for your CUC at the moment.
