Hey guys I have a question I've had a fowlr tank for a about three months now and I have a clown, a single chromis, and a damsel and I was wondering if I would be able to put a tang or butterfly fish in the tank.
It's a 36g bow front with a refugium and a power head soon to have a sump to replace the the refugium.

You could put a very small tang in but it will outgrow your tank pretty fast

I'd advise against any tang no matter the size for a 36 because they will out grow that pretty quick. Probably the same with butterflies. A royal gramma could hold its own with what you have. @eatbreakfast

1 of the possum wrasses are suitable and some say flashers but I think flashers need more space so they can stretch out. Do you have a quarintine tank? If so qt whatever you get, after qt move damsel and clown over to qt after you catch the fish in, rearrange rocks a little in DT and add new fish, wait a few days then add damsel and clown back. Or take the damsel back for credit as you have 2 damsel fish that can be brats when it comes to territory, 1 less = less aggression.

Which kind of damsel? It may affect possible additions.

Agreed with Duke about no tangs or butterflies and that a royal gramma will probably be a good choice.

Possible wrasses would include possum and pinkstreaks, small species of flasher and fairies, though it does all depend on the damsel.

Other possible additions would include a yellow assessor, zebra dartfish, watchman goby, midas blenny.

i have a fiji blue devil damsel

Fiji blue devils aren't terrible for aggression, but can still be pretty territorial toward any fish that hangs out around the rocks. As suggested above, if you can remove it so a new fish can get established, it would help.

Ok thanks

If you want the blue color check out blue gudgeons. Just got a group of 4 myself, they remind me a bit of firefish but in blue.
