My main tank has been up and running for two years now and is pretty stable so far. Parameters are...
Tank size - 200 Gallons
Calcium - 430
Alkalinity - 8
Magnesium - 1380
PH - 7.9 - 8.1
Salinity - 1.025
Temp - 78 - 79
Nitrate - 0
Phosphate - 0
On a side note: I realize that 0 Nitrate and Phosphate is not desirable, but I have tried everything to increase it with no luck and it hasn't been an issue yet so I gave up.
My question is, I want to add a large rock to the display and want to know if it is better to add a brand new rock or one that I have had in my invert QT for about a year now? The new rock would be a Carib Sea Life Rock that I have had for a while so it wouldn't have any unwanted hitchhikers, but it has not been in water ever so it would have absolutely no bacteria. The existing rock has been in my invert QT and is full of bacteria, but also full of green hair algae and possibly bubble algae, (I keep plenty of algae in my invert QT intentionally). My preference would be the QT rock and I do not believe the algae would be a problem since I have 0 nitrate and phosphate and 5 Tangs that would LOVE to clean it off for me, but I am not 100% sure so I figured I would ask here. Would it be better to add the new rock or the QT one? What potential problems would I have with either?
Thanks for any advice in advance! ;Happy
