Hey guys,

I have a mixed reef 47 gallon. I have some sand in the tank but my sleeper goby used a lot of it to make his "cave". The entire front corner is bare bottom now because of this.

I found some sand from an old tank that I kept for no apparent reason. Is it safe to use this sand if I rinse it with RO/DI water? It has been sitting dry for over a year.

I'd let it soak a little while and rinse very well a few times but I've done it

+1 on all above. To add it with the least amount cloud you can try *slowly* pouring the sand in a tube that's aimed right on top of the dump zone. It worked well for me. My tank is only 12 inches deep though so that may make a difference

Thanks guys! I'll be adding it tomorrow after soaking over night. My bank is 30 inches tall so I plan on using a funnel and some PVC to get it down there!
