I'm starting a reef tank here in a week. I wanted to add pink sand from a craft store to give the aquarium a unique look. Would this be ok or cause any problems. I've searched the forums and Google on this topic and found nothing.

I would be leery of that unless you knew exactly what they used to dye the sand and that it was animal safe. I wouldn't want anything that could harm my tank to leach out of the sand.

Ceremony sand doesn't exactly sound reef safe to me.

Maybe try this:

Fiji Pink Sand, by Carib Sea

:)

0% chance I would add that to a tank. You don’t know what’s in the sand that could leach into the tank. Plus it looks very fine and may get all over the place. But, it’s idea that Real Reef or some other artificial rock company should do. Use their techniques to color sand pink, purple or whatever people want and it would be 100% reef safe.

Thank you I'm glad I asked. I don't think I'll be using it. Don't think it's worth the risk.
