I added purigen to my tank about a week ago. That’s the only change so far in the tank. I removed GFO and added the Purigen. For the last week my gorgonias have been loosing their tissue, my Xenia are melted away, and a soft coral that looks like a broccoli completely melted. Does this sound right?

I’ve run purigen and not had a problem with my softies. What are your water parameters please include phosphates and nitrates.

I've use purigen without problem but I never reuse it soaking in bleaching water.

I have reused it and it works like a champ no issues.

Not sure how this happen
Alk = 18
Calc = 380

A week ago
Alk = 10.5
Calc = 410

I am running a Kalk reactor that I have just taken offline and going to do a 50 gal WC.

Tank is 400gallons

Other Params
Ph 8.15
Mag 1275
Ammonium 0.0

My money is on the Alkalinity. Should be between 7 and 10...

The only thing the Purigen might do that is likely to be a potential problem is, like GAC, possibly reducing the yellowness of the water quickly. That can result in a sudden increase in the light intensity penetratign the water, and might shock a coral.
