Adding salt

So I noticed my water is getting low in the tank and I don't have an auto top off device which is all right I don't mind adding water to the system I'm just curious as to when I do a water change what is the smallest container I can add salt to pour directly into the tank when there is fish and corals in. lifting up a 5 gallon bucket with water or getting pumps involved seems a bit messy and was hoping to add water and salt to the tank and something that is easy to lift and poor other than a gallon or 5 gallon bucket to keep salinity levels right.

On a side note does anyone have experience with seachems 8.3 reef buffer?

Your going to have to mix the water in a bucket/container that can hold water. The salinity has to match your tank before it goes in the tank. Your not going to get stable salinity with no ato.
any specific reason your thinking about adding the buffer ?

If your manually adding water, don’t add salt. Water evaporate, salt doesn’t. As water evaporates the salinity goes up.

Top off your water to the correct level, then do your water change. Match salinity and pour it in is easiest without a sump.

I put a VERY small amount (the directions state very little, I think 1/2 tsp per 5 gallons?) of the reef buffer and reef builder in during water changes. My levels are all great, and if added in small enough amounts I'm told it's more of an insurance policy. I have no clue what I'm doing with this or most things in my life, so take it for what it's worth.

I'm at 1.025 salenity I make my own from rodi no I don't have a sump my tank size is 40 gal. Ya the main reason I want to use it is because my pH is at 7.8 from the rodi.

PH buffers add alkalinity, just keep that in mind.

I personally would use a small pump(like an MJ1200) to pump my new salt water from the bucket on the floor into the tank. No lifting involved, and no mess! I did this back when I had a biocube and no sump.
