When adding water to my tank when the salinity is already perfect do I want to make the adding water match the salinity of the tank. 1.025 I believe so and I've been doing great this whole time so I want to make a stupid mistake.

You are correct.
But... If adding water due to evaporation, you should be adding straight fresh water with RODI being the preferred source.
Even better if you use an Auto Top Off with RODI. keeps things nice and stable

thank you it was a little low after I did my water change so I let some of operate now I have the salinity back where I wanted at 1.025. But I need to add like an inch of water to make my protein skimmer work better and 2 top the tank off

Then add the same salinity. :)

When your adding for the first time, do you add everything to the display and then open it up to the sump? Or do you add to the sump separate? Does it even matter ?

If you're referring to a water change, I believe there is no reason you shouldn't be able to add the new water (salt water) directly into the display (I've never had a problem with it, although it sometimes will stir up the sand), but you can also add the new water into the sump.

With top off water (fresh water) I personally recommend pouring into the sump. Less likely to hit a coral or shock a fish with a wave of lower salinity water.

I just started this tank (first one) and was just making sure there wasn’t a specific way. That makes sense about top off in the sump though! Thanks for the advice

Of course! Just make sure you dont dump freshwater directly onto your biomedia in your sump, dont want to risk shocking the bacteria.
