hey guys ive been debating on increasing my sand bed slowly and was wondering whats the best route to go about this have a feeding buying a 40lb bag of live sand and dumping it into my tank will cause issues what do the " pros " do

Ive added a liter (handy dandy plastic cups from brs) at a time over weeks to replace or add depth. Rinsed it in tap water to remove dust first. No issues. Slow, small additions are way for me.

so you would recommend buying a bag 40lbs lets say or even 2 and keep adding a cup or so every other day lets say or every 3-4 days would be okay?

I'd add more...say a quarter of the area per day, over four days....and use THIS METHOD.

I like using a Tupperware container with a lid. That way when I get to the bottom of the tank I can slowly let water in and then slowly dump the sand making less of a cloud.

For sure rinse the sand before adding. Rinse it until it runs clear in tap water and then rinse it a final time with RODI water.
