Well I bought a set up from a local guy that is moving. I got some great equipment for really cheap,I wasn't plan on moving this quick but this deal let me jump into the hobby for very little.
So we worked all night transporting all the fish, water, tons of rock, sand, tanks, sumps, skimmers, rodi units, apex system etc!
We tended to the fish first and set them up in a temporary tank with just a few rocks, filter system and heater,They seem to be doing great. Rocks and the growth on them seem to be doing fine,I put a power head in and also another heater to maintain the temps.
Now the sand,I hope I didnt mess up to bad but I read that it should be fine!? But we decided to flush out the live sand with regular water, for the most part to clean as we didnt know how old or dirty the sand was and it turned out it was loaded with worms. So we flushed out the live sand, which I assume is now dead sand and worm free. Now we feel there is not enough sand for our liking, its pretty shallow in areas, and today we're going to start scaping the rocks and was wondering, for the new sand we buy do we mix live sand in,,or since its all dead now,do we just had sand?
The rocks also had a very good amount worms,,we went through them and picked off the big ones we can see,but there are still plenty in there, which I read that is good to a point. Also we have a 75G tank,,how much sand do you think is needed to add another inch across the bottom. Thanks!
