Hey Everybody. So my girlfriend has a Scopas Tang right now thats outgrowing his tank. I would like to add him to my tank, but I currently have an Atlantic Blue Tang and a Purple Tang. My two tangs fight sometimes, but not all the time. I'm wondering, what would be the best way to introduce the Scopas without my other tangs trying to beat him up? My two tangs are approximately 3.5"-4", and the Scopas is about 2". Thanks for your help!

Best bet is to add several fish at once. Helps to spread the aggression around until things settle down.

But I think having more info on your tank would help because we don’t know if your tank is large enough to support another tang. So what size tank is it? Also how big is the tank that the 2 inch Scopas is outgrowing?

Its 180 gallons that he would be going into with the other tangs.

I would be a little concerned about the purple with the scopas. Personally I wouldn't do it, purples are notoriously aggressive and most scopas seem to be a bit more reserved, both being zebrasoma's it's likely going to be an issue.

X2 better to add with another zebrasoma or another tang but even still a resident purple may not tolerate it.

I agree with above. If the scopas was bigger or at least the same size as the purple I think you would have better luck.
The only way to attempt it, if you have to, would be to remove the purple, add the scopas and then reintroduce the purple after a few days. I have been able to do this in the past with success.

Yeah the purple is probably not going to be happy about a scopas. I agree with removing the Purple for a little while and letting the scoops get established then re-introduce the purple.
