Really don't know where to post this, but I'll post here. I have a 40g breeder display tank with 40g breeder sump which holds roughly 35 gallons. I have a mixed reef in the tank. I wanted to buy a dwarf lionfish and a leaf fish. Both very venomous fish and just wanted to do a FOWLR tank. Should I do bare bottom or shallow sand bed. I want to plumb them into my current system. If I do this, will it cause a mini cycle into the current system? I will add only 1 fish at a time.

The cycle is only from the new live rock die off. You could cycle that separately with the other tank, not connected, and then when you go to connect them basically remove all of the water from the new tank. Just remove as much of the water from the cycled rock as possible and mix in new water.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
