Hello,

I've got a 75 gallon tank that's been up about 3 months now running great. We set it up before knowing about sumps and just have been using a canister filter that came with it. So far no problems but I think a sump would be much better. The problem is, our stand isn't fully open in the front so putting one in would be difficult. There is a beam going through the middle in the front. Would it be safe to remove this? A finite elements simulation says it should be but I'm curious if anyone has done something like that or would say definitely don't try it. Photo attached is the front of my stand

I wouldn't remove it I'm pretty that helps with the weight of the tank

Am I destined for a crash with the canister? We've been pretty good about rinsing out the funk monthly

If its been working keep it up just always make sure your parameters are good and also what are your current plans for livestock and corals then every one will know what to reccomend

The hope was for a mixed reef. We have a one spot fox face, kole tang, two clowns and two fairy wrasses right now that we're happy with on the fish side. Parameters have been pretty steady since cycling at
0 ammonia
0 nitrite
15-20 nitrate
400-420 calcium
1350-1400 mg
9.2-10 alk
1.025 sal
78 Fahrenheit

And your phosphate?
Phosphate is one I've been lacking. Actually ordered a Hanna checker for that last week. Should be here Wednesday. Been told it's fine as long as nitrate is fine but decided I should probably test it as well

Not necessarily you have to test phosphate especially for sps coral the main ones are alk phosphate nitrate

I’m pretty sure the tank rests on that part
Do not remove

Do not remove. Maybe you can squeeze a nice rubbermaid sump in there. A sump would be awesome but the canister is fine as long as it's cleaned frequently
