Hi guys I have a question i'm running now SBReeflights latest WiFi model 16in fixture.
Think about adding 2xT5 bulbs cover some death spots or should go with 4T5.
My tank is 40gl cube 24x18

That T5 bulbs should get for best color and growth?

Adding t5 is a great idea , ATI blue plus gives of great color and growth. How high of the water line is the reeflights? You could also try raising the fixture high of the water line and turn up the intensity. If you add t5's I would say you only need 2 to take care of dark spots. Four T5's would be enough light to use as a primary source of lighting .

Thank you for the reply, right now my led lights are 12 inches above the water

You could easily double that and crank them up ! I have a reef breeders V2 20 inches above water line just for a reference.

One of my friends has the geismann t5/led fixture. Looks real nice. I would go for it.

IMO you may as well decommission the LED's if you're really that into running T5's. You'll have almost no significant benefit to running LED doing it the way you're proposing since you'll be spending so much of the money your LED's save on T5 bulbs....

If you can't add another LED spotlight to your current setup to cut back on shadows (or whatever) then you may have simply picked the wrong LED's. It does happen!

High priced LED spotlights seem to catch all the buzz so tons and tons of people seem to buy them in spite of not liking the results, which are naturally loaded with shadows. They look like halides, which more or less emulate shallow reef lighting....perfectly natural.

For some reason when doing the initial purchase, they don't even consider LED strips – which provide a very T5-like light...very unlike spotlights...very much like a deep reef...also perfectly natural.

Hopefully it's apparent I don't hold an opinion on one light vs another.....but I do think making a "hybrid" out of an LED system you don't like enough to use on it's own just makes no sense. Get your money back out and get what you want – even if it's a T5 system.

If you want to stick with lights that include a controller/sunrise/sunset/effects when you switch, then check out GHL's Lightbar2's and Current USA's Orbit IC or Pro. If you have a controller to do dimming on plain LED strips, then you have a ton more options. (The rest of Current's line, Hamilton Tech's strips, et al.)

...or even a second 16" SBreef if you like it, but the coverage is just bad. (It is a pretty narrow fixture to be covering a whole cube.)
