I am planning on adding a powder blue tang, yellow tang and blue hippo tang at the same time just to prevent any fighting.... any suggestions on how old your tank should be before adding them?

The PBT has been difficult to keep in my experience. I have had 3 in 3 different tanks. I waited at least six months before adding one and always ran a uv sterilizer. Without the uv they would brak out in ich. They also need pristine water for them to thrive. I good skimmer is a must. I have no experience keeping a blue hippo but, I have kept several yellow tangs which can be added shortly after a tank cycles.

A very bad idea in your 90 gallon. Wait until you upgrade for a hippo or PBT. A yellow, by itself, or with a couple bristletooth tangs would be okay, but a hippo, a pbt, and a yellow tang in a 90 gallon is asking for trouble, usually ending in deaths

+1

Even if I add them all at the same time? In my experience if they go in together, they have no time to claim territory to fight over. Almost every fish store I’ve been to has all 3 of those fish in the same tank together.
Your tank is to small for the amount of range tangs need. The PBT & Hippo will get to big making you have to get rid of them or get a bigger tank. I have a Hippo & Chevron in my 185gl & their all over the tank. Their 2 different genes so get along. PBT are known to be bullies (some will disagree) & as stated are hard to keep, trust me I've tried.

you rang?

@ReefGirl87, please do not be discouraged. We are only trying to help, and those three tangs in a 90 will only set you up for failure. You can have a yellow, or any bristletooth tang in a 90, maybe multiple. Ask away :)

No, not discouraged, I would rather know beforehand rather than risk the lives of the fish and the money. Lol I appreciate all the input!! I’ve heard a lot of comments about yellow and kole.... or possible a purple and kole... that sounds like a much better bet. Or possibly the bristletooth.

Purple is too big and agressive. They're are many types of bristletooth tangs to choose from

As others have said... wait for larger tank for the PBT or Hippo.
They just dont seem happy in smaller tanks for long periods of time. Having previous experience with other tangs helps when you "upgrade" to a PBT as well. They can be difficult. Never had a Hippo, so cant speak on.
Yellows are awesome if you get a healthy one and QT and feed well. Have a trio that have been with me almost two years now.
