Waiting on a 60 gallon Planet cube to arrive. When it does, I have decided to give UV a try this time. (I ran ozone on my previous tanks.) It will be set up to run 24/7 for parasite prevention. Also with a few twists of a couple valves, I can switch to higher flow bacteria control if needed. I'll be going with the Pentair 25w unit, which is a little oversized but gives me that ability to go higher flow with the full return pump.

Normally the ball valve is full open, gate valve is set to about 80 gph. For bacteria outbreaks, the gate valve gets opened all the way and the ball valve gets closed.

Workable plan? Any suggestions?

Using upfront should minimize spores, parasites and many algaes

I am also looking to do this
Question how do you know the gate valve is set to 80 gph ?
I dont have room for another pump with out putting it in my refugium area. And I don't want to.
So if I hook it up to the main return pump like my diagram shows I have a few questions.
1. How to I know the flow thru it I don't have an Apex so need to know that. I have a 1500gph or a M1 that's 2000gph.
2. Does my diagram look correct ?
3. Do I put a gate valve on each end or just on 1 of the ends and if only one valve do I put it on the in or out line?
Thanks for your help
