ok I have a 210g tank currently with black sand the tank has been up and going for about 5 years. I'm wanting to brighten up the sand bed some an was wondering about maybe adding some white sand? Not sure how that would look. Just wondering if anyone has tried this. The sand bed is currently 2.5-3 inches thick. Thanks for any info.

I have a Red Sea max250 and have the same question or just replace the black sand with white sand and not have to go through a cycle

Here are couple of pictures I have from my previous set up, I actually liked the mix black and white.

i did it with equal parts with a freshwater build when i first started out. i was MEH over it. so i went all black in my reefer450 build. black stand. over the last couple years its gained some white flecks, but still looks cleaner than a mix or all white in my opinion.
