How do I add wrasses to my tank? I currently have a sixline and a mystery wrasse. Both are peaceful. Lmk thx

I want alot of wrasses! I have a big enough tank.

Be careful of the sixline. They can be aggressive. I have a mystery wrasse and love that fish. Very mild mannered. My Melanarus is aggressive though towards other wrasses so I can't add any more even though they are a cool group of fish. He was the last wrasse to be added too but still tries to pick on the mystery wrasse.

Yeah, my 6 line was aggressive toward anything I put in the tank so I agree watch him. But I think mine was nastier than usual. I've always wanted a mystery wrasse, they're awesome. I just picked up a pair of flame wrasse and they are now my favorite.

I hate to say it, but you have the 2 most aggressive wrasses already, especially if they are well established in your tank. The sixline and the mystery are very territorial and can, and will be very aggressive towards newcoming wrasses. Be careful and good luck.

Get u an acclimation box and set it in your tank. Put the new wrasse in the box for a few days and observe if there's any aggresion

My Mystery wrasse would put a choke hold on any new wrasse, and then kindly ask him to leave. I have had him for 2 years, and can't figure out If I like him or not. He is the equivilent to a Mako shark, and I cant keep any of my favorite anthias as a result. Good luck.

Second BradSyphus' comment. I thought my mystery was peaceful. Moved it from a 120 to a 280 with two leopards and a male exquisite and it chased the male exquisite into the sump (he's still doing fine) and killed the (large) female M. bipartitus. I was able to get the male M. ornatus out before he was killed. The mystery now resides in the frag tank (terrorizes everything he can in there, too). The ornatus is finally back to full health...

Wow, I guess I have just been lucky. My mystery wrasse has been a perfect angel. My melanarus has been the trouble maker and essentially chased my flasher wrasse until it jumped to it's death.

Plus. If you get the 1/4 inch clear mesh to cover your tank. You would be able to keep one of these guys. The tank HAS to be covered .

Attenuatus Flasher wrasse . I took that picture last night when the halides went off and he was showing off.

Your best bet would be to pull your two existing wrasses and have them hang in the sump for a while, or a seperate tank (QT tank maybe?). The new fish would at least have a chance to settle in without the existing fish pestering them, then you could try adding them back into the display later on. As Brad and a couple others mentioned, I think you'll have next to no success adding any other wrasses without pulling the established mystery and six line.

i would also like to add some wrasses to my display, but i dont know if my choices are compatable with each other, or rare. cant seem to find them to buy anywhere.

Sorry, I've got to agree with the others with the concern about the six line and mystery wrasse that are already established in the tank.

Stun has a great suggestion here if you insist on wanting to keep these 2 fish ... move them out for a while as you add in the other wrasses you want.
