Hey, so I recently started my own tank for the first time. I let it cycle through, last week I added 2 clownfish, some crabs & some snails. I want to add some soft corals.... how long do I have to wait to add something in there?

Welcome to R2R!!! I honestly would wait a month or 2 until the tank a established a little longer. I personally wait until I start seeing Coraline growth before I add any type of coral.

Hi Orlando, Welcome to R2R... Congrats On The New Tank... Thanks for jumping in I am a +1 on waiting a minute before ya start putting more stuff in there... Slower is Better... Maybe you could take some pics of your set up for us... You know cause we are all Nosy ... Maybe start your build thread... :)

The only coral I would really recommend right now would be soft corals. The only reason I say is because they like a "dirtier" tank. They will typically do alright and thrive in higher phosphate and nitrate levels. These coral can very difficult to remove when you are ready for different coral as well.

I started the tank on sept 15th so it’s been up for 3 months now. Will that make a difference?

Yes I’m trying not to be impatient but it’s been 3 months since I started it. I’ve just recently put fish in & yea I’ll definitely post some pics. I just have to learn how to get around on here.

Not trying to nit pick. But I would move the rock off the glass. My fiance keeps putting rocks close to the glass in our 40 and it become a pain to clean and downgrades the flow. What lights you running?

Welcome to R2R! You could start out with some hardier zoas and mushrooms. Maybe some Green star polyp if you keep it off of the main rockwork. I've found Rasta's (zoa) and GSP to be nearly bulletproof. Be careful though. They all spread like crazy

So I went with adding some corals. I got some zoas & some gsp. How much current should they have?
