Right now all I’m running on my Reefer 250 is a really beefy protein skimmer, some filter socks, and carbon. Just curious if you guys on average do more than that?

I know there are many options... reactors, UV, bioballs, refugiums, etc. I think I’ve tried them all over the years and never could tell how much they really helped. Just curious of opinions here.

Like your style...keep it simple but effective as you need to maintain. Here's what I'm running.

Big 'ol Tunze 9410 DC Skimmer. Oversized for sure, but quiet, adjustable down. Pricey - but very, very happy with it so far.

NOPOX since day 1 here but not to run to zero - just to control. Still do heavy WC as tank is still new. Seems to do good job of keeping level steady so I can reduce with the WC. Also add some Microbacter 7 every few days - less convinced that's doing anything at this point.

I threw in 1L of Pond Matrix in a onion bag I zip tied...mostly for bacteria. Don't have any expectations of Nitrate control. And I use it to take some out to start quarantine/hospital cycling if needed.

Lastly...never used filter socks after first couple weeks. I have a plastic insert for my RSR170 and fill it rolled up (4" wide x 2 ft strip) of blue/white sponge. Change 2x a week - just throw it out. $15 on Amazon should last 3 months. :) Small bag (3 Tbls) of ROX 0.8 in the bottom of the cup.

In my opinion, if your current setup is doing the job, you're all set. There are a million different gadgets that you can add, but in the end why? Are you looking to correct an issue?

Keep things simple and if your corals are happy then keep doing that. One can not add more bacterial filtration unless your bio load increases. As bacteria will only grow if there is more food ie ammonia in the water for them to eat. UV is not needed unless there is a disease in the aquarium. One can get crazy with reactors nowadays but this can lead to imbalance if not carefully watched.
