I could use a little advice.

I currently have a 20g QT set up.

I also have a 25g set up in my sump room that mostly just sits there and amuses me. It is plumbed directly into my sump and has no fish in it. I keep a few LPS that like low flow. It runs 6ft from the sump and everything goes through 1 pipe each way.

What I am curious about is using it as isolation space. I already use it when I need to seaparate a fish that is having trouble adjusting. I'm wondering if I can use it as a second QT. Most diseases don't really vector in open water for long and those that do have a fairly long way to travel to get to the main tank.

I still wouldn't be inclined to try, but I'm thinking if I can set sufficient UV on the outflow that I could be reasonably safe. At the very least a lot safer than just sticking a potentially sick fish directly into the display.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

That would defeat the purpose of a QT in my opinion. If you did this I don't see any difference from just throwing a fish in your DT with a UV running on your system. Disease will make it to your DT.

Agreed not a good idea. Look up the fallow period for ich.
