I am helping my dad put together a 20 gallon nano tank. We bought a used 20 gallon that has a 10 gallon sump. Right now it only has two chamber and I would like to add a third for a refugium. The current baffles are silicone and in place, I would like to make the next baffle adjustable, not just up and down but side to side too. I want to be able to accommodate future equipment when it's needed. Any ideas? I thought about trying the coarse filter pad like @Bulk Reef Supply did on their ULM.

Check out Swiss tropical. You can get their poret foam sheets in various sizes and thicknesses. I believe the 1" and above can be used as vertical baffles. It's great stuff. I used it with my freshwater tanks and the excess that you cut off is great for cutting into small sponges for cleaning the tank
