Adjusting HOB Filter

Any tips on adjusting hob filter? The collection cups adjusts with how far it sits in the water and the actual out is adjusts. Had it for 3 days and it either overflows and floods my floor, or the bubbles don't reach the top at all. First hob skimmer as we have a wet skimmer for our other tank. The skimmer is an Octo (Reef Octopus) Classic-100
