Every-time we see that awesome colorful zoa on a website and when you get it you realize the picture of the zoa on website is zoomed in by X20 and is so edited its not even funny.

Lol online photo.

And when its in your tank lol

I don't have this problem too often, you just have to know when a photo has been edited. But the examples you showed are really terrible, I'd be mad if that showed up. But at least you got a sweet free aptasia with it

I would be concerned that you didn't receive the coral you were suppose to receive. By looking at the first picture the skirt is thick and spread out while he frag you received has a thin skirt and the tentacles are thin and glide to one another. This does not appear to be the same coral.

I always stick to a reputable vendor. Yea, you pay a bit more but you know they care about their reputation and will give you what you want and usually do what it takes to make it right.

Sorry you had that happen, Brad. I've actually had pretty good luck with most of the sponsors on here. My advice is that once you find a few good ones, stick with them.

I'd also suggest that you start a feedback thread so others will know to steer clear of whoever sold you the piece.

Everything I've bought online has been exactly what was pictured and I expected. Sorry for you bad luck, but research and reviews are important with online purchases!

lol How can you compare your First Photo A pair of hallucinations with a darth maul, then say this is what you get, witch is 3 mind blowing palys. lol.

you just need to no who your buying from online. you do your homework before you buy. People always get burned cause they dont research like allot of people should be doing.

Before i order anywhere i always look at ratings and i always ask around and make sure people i know have gotten good items with that online vendor. All the vendors on here are really good and will order form them when i can.

But over all make sure you study who you order from before you make a big purchase. lol.

happy reefing.

Yeah as rob said above research ..... I buy all my coral online and I am extremely happy.

Battle corals better than pictures polyp extension in the bag

Cherry corals the same

I have bought from personal people on r2r alwAys happy.

Sorry u had a bad experience bud

Those 2 pics are not the same item guys, no way no how. Interesting thread, not buying it!

i don't think he's saying those are the same frags more so just putting a very accurate and highly EXAGGERATED example.

I was going to say. Because the first photo is obviously two separate types of zoas, while the second pic is clearly 3 of the same polyp.

If it looks too good to be true it probably is. A great real-life example of this is the Jaw-Dropper acro. I have yet to see a hobbyist pic of a frag that looks a quarter as amazing as the original vendor pic that made "jaws drop".

If the pic is obviously taken under pure blue light it won't look the same in your balanced spectrum lighting. I don't have much experience w mail order but I know anything from Pacific East Aquaculture will look the same in my tank, but then their pics also don't have the supersaturated mind-blowing colors of other vendors.
