Were a retention vessel constructed in such a way that water is recirculated through UV-C and either constant ozone or hydrogen peroxide then what would it not remove that would be considered detrimental to corals, inverts and other inhabitants? Based on what I've read it also converts ammonia/ammonium by robbing it's hydrogen. I'm also reading that it reduced nitrates although not sure how as well as basically converting all carbon sources to co2. Am I grasping this correctly and it this a viable option to RODI assuming it's not a one pass system or would that also work as well?

One application I'm also considering is QT where establishing biological filtration can be an issue but if AOP can convert ammonia/ammonium and literally nullify that byproduct then it might help.
 
Don’t think it would remove excess ions etc. I thought using rodi for its purity and mixing salt would almost always allow a base setting for the parameters etc.

What specific ions would I want removed that AOP wouldn’t solve? I don’t perform WC and seeking a solution for tap mostly other than initial fill where I can balance my ions later with ICP and/or hobby level test kits.

RODI not pragmatic for my application and why I’m seeking alternatives where whole house will be filtered with additional ultrafiltration to reduce most pesticides yet seeking AOP as a final polishing of any remaining detrimental remnants with the option of just ignoring ultrafiltration should recirculating with AOP solves my concerns.
 
It won't remove copper or most ions. it may convert ammonia to nitrate, but that's about it as far as ions go.

This process is more of a sterilization method for drinking as opposed to purification for reefing.

Setting aside copper and other ions such as lead. Wouldn't this remove items such as pesticides and chlorine?

It will remove organic toxins, such as pesticides, though those don't worry me much in drinkable water.

I would not assume it removes chlorine. It may actually generate chlorine and bleach from chloride, unless those are removed somehow.

Seeking an alternative as I can remove copper and lead but want to ensure I remove any pesticides that ultrafiltration misses. Can solve chlorine with carbon but thought it solved that. At least that's what I recall reading although I've read so much I might be confusing things.

Yes, GAC will remove chlorine and ozone produced oxidants such as bleach. Ozone will be much more effective than peroxide.

Does UV-C and peroxide cause OPO? Saw that on another forum and haven’t seen that elsewhere.

BTW, what I should have said was that AOP breaks the chlorine ammonia bond in chloramine but had previously misunderstood that. As I grasp it. Would make GAC last longer as that’s more efficient vs solving chloramine.
