my tank- 29g sps dominant, mostly frag, largely bio-filtered (NH3 4- nil, NO 2 & 3 'present' but low, point of sale- nil) with flow, pods, mangrove, couple non-encrusting sponges, and a varying cleanup crew that's currently 3 emeralds, 2-3 peppermints, several dozen bristleworms, etc).i run my skimmer mostly on non-skimming mode just to add a bit more flow and skim with it once a day or so. i don't do it more than that because of all the phyto i dump in the tank. my elements are literally off the chart (Ca 500+ Mg 1500+ alk....i seldom measure it). I have 2 fish- a starry blenny and a little watchman. this tank is 2 years old. lighting is a pair of haagen marine & coral LEDs totaling 64watts with a low-red custom profile for 12 hours that includes super long sun rise/set ramps. here are my questions-
for the red sea people out there... if i don't need to dose calcium then how do i dose my 'ABCD' pack whose directions are based on calcium dosing??? they are unrelated to a degree, right? iron and potassium, etc have like nothing to do with calcium if i'm not mistaken. do i even need these things? i do have a nutrient-rich tank.
and in general- are my tank parameters the reason i can grow super sexy acro (pictures forthcoming) but cant keep a zoa to save my life?
also, big scary maw on a big scary worm... sudden-death worm??? it opens like that. the same 'predator' mouth. yeah, i've lost fish for 'no' reason a couple times. it's coloration kinda looks like a peanut worm? anyone have those? i've never seen the 2nd half of this worm and seldom its front half. i'll get some photos up when i'm back on. thanks
