I have a 25 gallon IM lagoon that I am planning coral placement to synergize aesthetic appeal and proper co-habitation. Some of the corals that I was thinking about putting in include:
  • Bubble Tip Anemone
  • Euphylia
  • Mushrooms
  • Softies
  • Zoas
I would like to have shorter foreground corals on the lower rocks in the front and slowly transition to longer more wavy varieties in the back. I am big on complimentary colors so any insight there would also be great. Finally, further on down the road I have considered placing a Tridacna maxima clam in this scape and have to take that into consideration as well as far as placement.

Any scape/artistic gurus out there willing to put in their two cents? Any questions about my build? Follow the link in the signature. All insight is considered and appreciated. Have a nice weekend.

So I would suggest putting the bubble tip on the highest part. I don't know that I would mix a clam and a bubble tip in that small of tank. Esthetic, lighting, and bubble tip movements would make it tough. Some people do it but I would suggest choosing one of the two and using it as the focal point of your tank. I would suggest doing mushrooms along the edge of the sand and then transitioning to hammer corals, frog spawn, torch corals. I would let the mushrooms encroach higher on one side probably the left, move the rocks in between the highest rock and the cave on the right to create a bit of a gully.

Excellent thoughts! My mind’s eye took me on a similar path but you described it better. I will definitely take the migratory movements of the bubble tip anemone and the clam issue into consideration. I will most likely sketch out a layout later today.
