Advice for trimming Caulerpa peltata

I don't need to trim it now, but at its current growth rate, I will need to do it pretty soon. Since it is non-vascular I am concerned that if I cut it with scissors, it will drain out all of its liquid. Kind of fly around the tank backwards like a balloon. Has any one done this before?

Yeah, this stuff can grow crazy. Simply snip and replant in refugium, sump or separate tank

So my balloon fear analogy was unwarranted... Thank you!

I cut off a third of it and rehomed it in the "Sin Bin". The rhizomes were surprisingly well attached. I don't think I will wait so long to trim it the next time. I will try and grow the trimming out and probably donate it to my LFS! I attached the clipping to some rubble with super glue.
