I have been wanting an angler for like a year now and am seriously thinking about setting up an angler tank.
Who here has an Angler and what is the recommended set up for one in your opinion?

I haven't done any research thus far and am just now in the dreaming stage and starting to look into what I would need and how to care for them. I would like to hear from people who have had them if you have any advice for me. I do have extensive reef tank experience, though I am new to Reef2Reef I am not a Newbie... I am however new to the idea of anglers. So any advice would be welcomed!

Thanks!

I had a wartskin angler for a time. Cool fish but mine would only eat live ghost shrimp and I tried EVERYTHING to no avail. Make sure its eating dead food or that youre ready for that kind of commitment

Also bigger tank and stronger filtration is best as they are messy eaters and put out a lot of waste
+1

Although they may be small at first, some get large, so make sure you get a tank large enough for one when it is full grown. Getting them to eat frozen/dead food can be tricky sometimes. Some go for it, some don't (as already stated). Unless you house large fish with it, you can't really keep other fish with it, that lure will attract a lot of fish! I have not gotten the chance to own one yet, but once my tank is stocked, I may be setting up another tank to have one. They are a really cool fish.

Mine is not that messy at all. Being that it only eats every few weeks I find my nutrients are actually very low. Mine is about 3-4" and hasn't grown much if at all. My tank is 12g no skimmer some floss and carbon. I change about 2 g a week as well.

I might clean the glass once a month.

I have had one since February you can see him here

12 gallon Pico Manta Ray - Page 5

The one I have eats frozen silversides shrimp and clams. I read the long thread on RC before I got one it was pretty informative. I feed him every three weeks sometimes every other week. I actially fed him yesterday and filmed it

That's not too bad work wise! :-)

Great video! Not a community fish! Lol
Wonder how many people found that out the hard way! :)
