Hello when I set up my tank a 45 gal actual water volume about 38-39 gal the salt mix I purchased at the time had a 7dkh 470cal 1350mag. I was surprised that the Dkh was 7 especially when it was advertised as closer to 9dkh… so I investigated and found that this specific brand had a batch go out with low Dkh… fast forward a couple months I got a new box with a Dkh of 8.8. could I do a 5 gal water change with the new salt at 8.8dkh and not hurt my fish?
2- Longfin mocha storms
Thanks in advance

Yes you can start out doing small water changes with the higher dkh mix and it will gradually raise the dkh of your display. Everything will be fine as long as you don't cause a major swing. Usually fish aren't too bothered by swings anyway unless it's major.

In your opinion do you think 5 gal would be to aggressive to start with? Or should I do like 2.5 gal and check tomorrow what Alk is

Really rough math but a 5G water change is about 10% which is very reasonable. I wouldn’t expect this to raise your Alk much at all.
