Advice needed for dying coral

Okay so I am a bit nervous of posting this but I'm going to do it anyway. I had purchased a sinularia two months ago and one of my coworkers agreed to house it for me until my tank was ready. So anyway long story short it never did good in his tank and basically has withered away. I went ahead and put it in my tank in the hopes that perhaps it's still alive and might recover. So first off I would like to have some other opinions as to whether it is still alive or not. If it is alive I need some advice as to what the best course of action would. Obviously I can tell that it's lost most if not all its zooxanthellae so the struggle then would be how to feed it.

This is a soft coral sinularia? I would give it more time. Sinularia is pretty hardy as soft corals go. If you do not want to look at it in the state it's in just move it behind some rock where the coral can still receive light and flow. As for recovery, maintain NSW chemistry, mod to light, and low to mod flow and it may just come back.

Yes it is a sinularia. I had read that they are pretty hardy but I have a hard time telling if a coral is completely dead or not. Is there anything I could look for that could help determine wether there is any living tissue left? Here's a pic of it at the LFS, it was small but pretty. I'm a bit afraid to hope again but I would be ecstatic if it could recover.

The piece still have visible tissue. The coral structure is made up of tissue and calcium carbonate spicules, which look like white slivers. So what your seeing is not true skeleton but tissue. It may not survive but it could if given more time.

So if I go with the assumption that there is still some living tissue on it should I do anything to try and help it or just leave it be? I have some Revive if that will help it any.

I would just leave it be, not in the most intense lighting though. It might make a comeback as long as tank chemistry is in line. If it were mine I would not toss it yet.

Well after all that it looks like something destroyed it last night. I'm surprisingly upset at that, I knew I should have taken extra precautions.
