Hello! I'm a new reefer, only been in the hobby for 4 months. I'm upgrading to a 75g tank and I've got all of the equipment ordered already. All I need now is to decide on a plumbing layout and get the pipes ordered.

I'm not trying to do anything too fancy but I do want it to be as safe as possible. I decided on an Exotic Marine Systems overflow (1-1500 gph) with a bean animal setup so obviously I will be drilling the tank. The pump is an Eheim Compacton 3000 (476 - 793 gph) and my sump is a Trigger Sapphire 34 . If anyone could please take a look at the diagram I made and tell me if you see anything wrong I'd really appreciate it! Plumbing is completely new to me and this will easily be the most ambitious DIY project I've ever tried.

I hope the diagram makes sense, it was the best I could do in Excel! I will be using 45 degree joints for most of it since I heard that 90s can restrict the flow. I expect I'll have to make some minor modifications in the sump area once I start dry fitting so I will pick up a few extra joints before I start. Any opinions?

Raise the middle drainpipe a tiny bit so it will have some air in it. His true setup has a airline in the secondary, that if needed, closes the air off and turns that into one into a full siphon with the emergency then getting a sniff of water. Spread the 45's out an inch also for a smooth transition. Looks good. Nice plan.

Thanks! Unfortunately those two black pipes in the sump are built in to the sump already so I can't adjust those. There is going to be a hole drilled in the end cap at the top of that pipe in the overflow though, will this be enough?

I'll spread the 45s, thanks for the tip! Honestly I plan on winging that part a little bit just because the 45s would be such an absolute nightmare to measure properly.

On the left side drain line you'll be able to ditch 2 of the 45 deg elbows. 2 x 45=90 degree bend, so you can just run a piece of straight PVC between the upper & lower 45s . Hope this makes sense

Oh duh! Silly me, yeah that makes perfect sense, thanks for the input!
